One Global OpenRoaming Network #
MetaBlox is building a decentralized WiFi OpenRoaming network that delivers automatic connections from millions of locations worldwide. To connect, users don’t have to create an account with an internet provider or give out any login or personal information. All they need is a decentralized ID (DID), which can be generated for free on the MetaBlox app.Users don’t have to manually enter their DID to connect to the network either. Instead, they simply open the app when they come within range of a compatible router for the first time and tap through the landing page.
After this initial connection, users will automatically connect reconnect via any in-range router, without needing to open the app again. This seamless connection process enables WiFi roaming, where connections are continuously maintained for users as they travel across local access points.
The OpenRoaming network is global, and includes the Wireless Broadband Alliance’s million+ access points in addition to those provided by MetaBlox’s routers (known as MetaBlox miners since they create rewards for their hosts). So in addition to MetaBlox’s access points, DID-users get automatic connections to free WiFi at any of the WBA’s worldwide hotspots.
MetaBlox and the WBA’s WiFi OpenRoaming network will be accessible at locations such as…
Businesses:
Cafes
Retailers
Restaurants
Hotels
Public Spaces:
Libraries
Airports
Train stations
Government buildings
Large Venues:
Conference centers
Sports arenas
Theaters
Host locations are offered various incentives to use a MetaBlox miner for their WiFi access point. Hosts don’t need to switch or cancel their existing internet subscription to receive a MetaBlox miner and benefit from upgraded WiFi services. Users at these sites will be able to seamlessly access the OpenRoaming network, while site owners hosting it will be able to receive the ongoing rewards produced by MetaBlox miners as they establish WiFi connections.
MetaBlox mining rewards are mPoints that will become stakeable for Tokens in 2023 after the project’s IDO.
